The Pre-School program is divided into Pre-School I for kids 3 to 4 years old, and Pre-K for kids 4 to 5 years old. The teacher/child ratio is 1:12.

We believe that children learn through exploration and play, and will be focusing on the children’s social and emotional development. We provide a formalized group time, family style meals and other activities designed to encourage independence.

Scheduled Activities

The classroom is divided into ten learning centers. They are: woodworking, computer, books, table toys, art, blocks, science, dramatic play, writing, and language development. The divided centers help to foster your child’s intellectual, social and language development.

A daily schedule is posted on the parent board along with a copy of the monthly calendar. Breakfast is served until 8:30. Most of our scheduled activities occur between 9:00 and 11:30. Lunch is served at 11:30. Regular nap times give kids the important downtime for their growing bodies.

Field trips are planned throughout the year. Many are “walking trips” in our neighborhood – such as the public library, firehouse, bakery, post office, or Stanbery Park.

Outside playtime is an important part of your child’s day. We want to build small and large motor skills in your growing kids, and give them the “outside time” that keeps them fit and healthy. Our “muscle room” provides an indoor option for this type of play when weather does not permit going outside.

Food and Clothing

Two snacks and a hot lunch are provided. Any food your child is allergic to should be written down in the child’s records, and communicated to the teacher. Any special diets must be requested in writing by the child’s doctor.

We provide 2% milk for cereal in the morning, and will store the cereals you provide for a nutritious breakfast.

Your child needs a complete change of clothes, and nap time items: a cot sheet, blanket, pillow and something for your child to cuddle up to, if you like.

Each child will have a cubby for personal items, and a mailbox for art projects, parent notes, and other items.
